It is becoming a requirement that both public and commercial buildings have sufficient fire-resistant doors in place to reduce the spread of fire and smoke, particularly in high-rise buildings. Pensher Skytech’s fire doors are suitable for areas at high risk and volumes of fire, as they are fire rated up to 2 hours integrity and insulation to EN1634. The door system ensures that any fire risk can be isolated, enabling workers enough time to safely exit, as well as minimising risk to assets and property.
The performance for fire resistance is the time that a unit can resist fire, remaining free of cracks, holes, or openings, and maintaining its integrity or insulation or both.
The period of time during which a product must resist fire is typically determined in accordance with fire management plans and escape routes.
Pensher Skytech Fire Doors are designed to incorporate other performance requirements including blast, acoustics, and bullet. The doors are also inherently airtight and gas tight and watertight.
When testing fire resistance, the door must resist a constant heat in excess of a certain time, often 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
Pensher Skytech’s fire windows can provide up to 120 minutes of fire resistance for integrity and insulation and also 2 hours resistance for integrity only. This is resistance on a higher scale, making it suitable for high-risk areas and environments where there could possibly be large volumes of flames.
For higher security units we conduct fire testing to meet our client’s specifications.
It is possible to have fire resistance to integrity only or integrity and insulation, both of which can have different resistance times.
An ‘integrity’ only unit will remain as a physical barrier to the passage of fire for a specified period of time, but will not prevent heat transfer through the window.
An ‘integrity and insulating’ unit will prevent both the passage of fire and transfer of heat. It will not develop temperatures on its external surface, outside the compartment in which the fire is present which exceed 140° C.
Pensher Skytech’s fire resistant door is suitable for areas that are at high-risk of fire. These include:
