Pensher Skytech’s glazed blast screens are fixed light windows which deliver daylight into buildings as a more secure alternative to commercial windows and standard glazed partitions. Our glazed blast screen is a recommended solution for glazing apertures smaller than 3 metres high. It has a blast resistant level to very high pressures, and is certified by calculation.
The Pensher Skytech blast glazed screen system is blast certified to several international blast standards including ISO 16933. ACSE. GSA. UFC. 3-340-02. DMG-02. CPNI. This ensures that our screen is blast resistant to very high pressures, which is certified by calculation.
Our blast glazed screen meets current European norms for buildings according to EN14351-1 and CE marking is available. These norms cover resistance to wind load, water-tightness, air permeability, and thermal insulation.
The key to an effective blast screen is the ability of the frames to hold onto the glass, whilst the laminated layers of glass absorb the blast pressure.
The frames are constructed from thermally insulated steel profiles, and are fully weather-sealed. The glazed blast resistant screen can be combined with the blast door to provide light to either side of the door as a fan-light or over-panel.
Our blast resistant screens can be incorporated to include many other performances. Fire resistance can be combined through Pensher Skytech’s specially configured glazing composites.
Bullet and fragment resistant modifications can be provided, with resistance to armour piercing rounds being achievable. Using unique glazing make ups, the system can also attain a sound insulation of 45dB (STC45).
Blast resistant glazed screens are often specified on petrochemical sites, and other high profile buildings, where there is a potential dual threat from blast and fire. Other environments that usually require blast resistant screens are:
