BLAST WINDOWS
Blast resistant windows are an essential solution in areas at risk of blast attacks and for minimising the dangers posed by shattered glass. Whether intentional, such as acts of terrorism, or accidental attacks such as on petrochemical sites, blast windows are necessary in protecting life, assets, and infrastructure.
Pensher Skytech’s blast-proof windows are designed to provide a glazing solution that is able to open like a standard window, but that can provide protection against blast attacks when needed.
PERFORMANCE
Pensher Skytech’s blast windows meet current European standards for buildings with no real upper limit to the level of blast performance that can be provided.
There has been an increasing requirement for an opening vent in blast windows, which typically make the building vulnerable if left open during a blast attack. We have therefore designed a window restrictor that will be forced shut if such an event occurs, ensuring no pressure enters the building.
This provides a safe option for buildings at risk of blast attack, which also require natural ventilation.
MANUFACTURING
All products are manufactured in-house, employing skills and highly-qualified welders, and fabricators. It is important that blast windows are fitted correctly.
The size and quantity of fixings are critical to the blast design, as the pressure wave delivered to the window needs to be transferred to the wall into which the windows are fitted. For this reason, Pensher Skytech have a dedicated installation team. Alternatively, detailed method statements for installation can be provided, to assist contractors who wish to install themselves.
ADAPTABILITY
Pensher Skytech’s blast proof windows meet current European standards for buildings according to EN14351-1 with CE marking available. These standards cover resistances to wind-severity, water-tightness, air permeability, and thermal insulation.
With additional specifications, we can also provide sound insulation (45dB), bullet resistance (FB7/BR7), forced entry resistance (WK3), and fire resistance (EI 120), providing additional safety requirements, depending on your needs and environment.
